3D Models Introduction

Vizard pulls your digital media content together and makes it interactive. In most projects, you provide the content. While Vizard has some facility for creating content (e.g., 3D shapes, primitives, 2D/3D text), most likely your project's completion will require you to provide your own content either by creating it using 3rd party software or by leveraging content created by others.

Recommended Workflow

WorldViz recommends exporting models from 3ds Max to Vizard's native OSG format. All built-in OSG objects (e.g. animations, maps, OSG Helpers) are supported. The OSG format has binary and text versions. The binary version loads faster and has the option to embed texture data. The text version can be quickly modified in a text editor for debugging purposes. Download the latest OSG exporter for Max from the WorldViz downloads page.

Industry Standard Formats

The following 3D interchange formats have wide industry support and are Vizard compatible:

glTF 2.0

.gltf / .glb
FBX (up to 2019)

.fbx

Legacy Formats

The following legacy formats are partially supported. They will load in Vizard but not all features will translate over and we recommend using one of the industry standard formats when possible.
